The 4th of July means different things to different people. I hope you are going to have fun today. Even if you do not celebrate the 4th of July for its meaning you can still have fun. Fireworks, BBQ’s, parades are all ways to connect with people and to give them a smile. Remember those who are not with you to celebrate and celebrate them too.
Check on your neighbors if it is hot. Older people and kids do not handle the heat very well. Older people may not have family close by to check on them. Also check on your pets. They too cannot stay out in the heat too long.
Drink lots of water and wear a hat if you are going to be out in the sun for a long time. Parades can be long and you might not know how long you have been outside baking in the sun.
Some people do not celebrate the 4th. In England it is just another day. A day when the Colonies left England. They do not celebrate it, but they do like a good BBQ and fireworks if they are available. For fun google what other people do on the 4th of July in other countries. It is just another day but sometimes funny things come up. Just make sure you are googling safe sites and have your parents permission.
Above all, try to make a friend, give a smile, and enjoy summer. Do not let those who count their way through summer tell you it is half over…..some countries are not even out of school yet for the year. Summer is just starting!
